Advisor Payment Policies

Created: Mar 20, 2025|Updated: Apr 3, 2025

By registering to be listed as an Advisor on EdHyve ("the website," "website," "edhyve.com"), you ("Advisor") agree that the following terms and conditions will govern all payments made to you by Advisees through the EdHyve system.

EdHyve is a marketplace for those seeking educational consulting and advising services to connect with those seeking to provide educational consulting and advising services. EdHyve also provides a service to its users whereby payments will be distributed to Advisors that originate from their Advisees.

Conditions of Payments

EdHyve offers Advisors a layer of protection in the collection of their funds. To facilitate the collection and distribution of funds to the Advisors in a timely manner, please ensure that the following conditions are met. If any of the following conditions are not met and EdHyve becomes unable to collect your payment from the parent, Advisee, or other type of account-holder (collectively, "Advisee") to whom you gave an advising session or provided an educational consulting service, EdHyve cannot guarantee that your payment will be successfully collected, processed and distributed to you:

  1. Accurate Service Information: The information pertaining to the service or advising session is accurate. This includes the Advisee account name, start and end time and duration for live sessions, and service delivery date and time for asynchronous services. Unless otherwise agreed to by the Advisor and Advisee, the start and end time of live sessions will be considered to be the times of the actual educational consulting and advising activities, not arrival and departure times to and service location or online meeting.
  2. Valid Payment Authorization: Prior to starting a session or delivering a service, the Advisee has authorized payment to the Advisor and has on file with EdHyve a valid form of payment. This includes a valid credit/debit card, or a positive balance of prepaid EdHyve credit.
  3. Platform Communication: All messages and communications with the Advisee, including instructions and preparation work for the sessions, exchange of documents and materials, and delivery of asynchronous service items, are done through the EdHyve messaging system. If a live meeting happens in-person or remotely through another medium, such as via Zoom, telephone (facetime), Google Meets, or another video conferencing platform, the Advisor must confirm the session schedule and mark session completion on EdHyve and obtain acknowledgement from the Advisee.
  4. Ethical Standards: The Advisor's services follow strict ethical standards and academic honesty. The educational consulting and advising services do not constitute cheating or admissions fraud. More specifically, the Advisor is not to complete assignments, fill application forms, write essays or papers, take quizzes or otherwise do work on the Advisee's behalf. Further, the services that the Advisor offers must not violate the academic honesty policy or other conduct policies of the Advisee's school, university, academic institution or workplace.
  5. Timely Completion: The Advisor completes and delivers services in a timely manner and marks the services as complete within thirty (30) days of a live session happening or an asynchronous service delivery.
  6. No Direct Payments: The Advisor does not collect or request payment directly from the Advisee by cash, check or otherwise, for the services provided.
  7. Cancellation Policy Compliance: The Advisor follows the EdHyve Cancellation and Refund Policy.

Timing of Payments

If all the above Conditions for guaranteeing receipt of payment for Advisee lessons are met, Advisors can expect to receive their funds according to the following schedule. If there are questions about any of the conditions, payments may be delayed while EdHyve attempts to resolve the issues.

Advisors using the EdHyve platform will receive their Advisee payment by Direct Deposit. After an Advisor enters accurate bank account and routing numbers via our payment partner Stripe, funds will be released to the Advisor's bank on the 1st and 15th of each month or the following business day in case of weekends and bank holidays.

In order for a service payment to be included during a particular period in which funds are disbursed, that service must be marked as complete 5 days prior to the payment date. The time between when the funds are released by EdHyve and made available to the Advisor by the Advisor's bank will vary and is controlled by the Advisor's bank, not by EdHyve.

If an Advisor's direct deposit is returned to EdHyve by the Advisor's bank, EdHyve will request that the Advisor correct the Advisor's bank information. The returned funds will be resent within five (5) days after the bank information is corrected.

Tax Reporting and Withholding

Advisors are responsible for all federal, state, and/or local taxes due as a result of the services provided and payment distributed. EdHyve shall not withhold (or allocate in any other manner) any amount of Independent Advisor's fees toward any federal, nor state, or local income tax, or toward payroll tax of any kind. EdHyve will issue an annual earnings statement for each Advisor to use for tax reporting purposes.

Calculation of Advisor Payment Amounts

Advisors set their own service fees and hourly rates and may change it at any time. Advisees who have reserved sessions with an Advisor prior to the hourly rate change will continue to pay at the previous rate until all reserved sessions are completed.

All Advisors agree to a flat 20% Platform Fee. The 20% fee percentage will apply to all services and sessions. This means 80% of your submitted service fees and/or hourly rates will be distributed to you. The Platform Fee may be adjusted from time to time based on Advisor performance, client retention rates, and promotional incentives.

Non-educational consulting and advising charges should be incorporated into the service fee charges. This includes any travel, prep time or other expenses that you wish to defray to the customer. All costs associated with educational consulting and advising Advisees who retain you through the EdHyve platform, must go through the site.
